Sour jujube seed — known in Chinese as 酸棗仁 / 酸枣仁 (Suan Zao Ren) — is a traditional dried seed ingredient used in Chinese-style soups, tea-style preparations and traditional pantry recipes. It has a mild, nutty and slightly herbal character, and pairs naturally with red dates, dried longan, lily bulb, poria and goji berries.
