Suggested use

The Xianyitang 淮杞煲雞湯料包 (Huái Qǐ Bāo Jī Tāng) is a classic Cantonese herbal soup blend designed for chicken broth. It combines Chinese yam (山藥 / 淮山), goji berry (枸杞), codonopsis root (黨參), polygonatum root (玉竹), ficus root (五指毛桃) and red date (大棗). The ficus root gives the broth a distinctive mild, coconut-like fragrance, while the Chinese yam and codonopsis provide a naturally sweet, lightly earthy base.

This blend is specifically intended for chicken — use a whole chicken, chicken carcass or chicken pieces. Simmer until the chicken is fully cooked through and tender.

Each pack is pre-portioned for convenience. Rinse the ingredients, add to a pot with your chosen meat and approximately 1.5 litres of cold water, bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer for 1–2 hours. Season lightly before serving. Serves 2–4.
