Coix seeds — 薏苡仁 (Yi Yi Ren), also known as Job's Tears or Chinese pearl barley — are a mild, slightly chewy grain used widely across Chinese cooking. A staple of Chinese-style soups, sweet soups (tong sui) and congee, they add a gentle, neutral character and soft texture that blends naturally with almost any combination of ingredients.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried coix seeds, manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system. Rinse thoroughly and soak in water for 30–60 minutes before use. Add to soups and broths during simmering, cook into congee, or use in sweet soups and desserts.
Typical uses: Chinese-style soups and broths, sweet soups and desserts, congee and rice dishes, everyday pantry use.
Goes well with: Poria (茯苓), red dates (大棗), goji berry (枸杞子), Chinese yam (山藥), codonopsis (黨參), astragalus (黃芪), lily bulb (百合), red adzuki beans, pork ribs and chicken.
