White hyacinth beans — 白扁豆 (Bai Bian Dou), also known as lablab beans or flat beans — are a pale, flat dried bean widely used in Cantonese soups and broths. They have a mild, lightly earthy flavour that blends naturally into long-simmered soups with pork ribs, and pair well with other soup ingredients such as coix seeds and lotus seeds. They are also used in congee and everyday Chinese cooking.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried white hyacinth beans, produced under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Rinse thoroughly and soak in water for 1–2 hours before use. Cook thoroughly before eating. Add to soups and broths at the start of cooking and simmer with meat and other ingredients, or cook into congee.
