Open flowers or chrysanthemum buds?
Flower form: This 50 g Hang chrysanthemum pack contains open flowers. The 80 g bud pack contains earlier-harvested flowers whose petals have not fully unfolded. “Bud” describes the harvest stage, rather than necessarily a different variety.
Aroma, flavour and mouthfeel: Bud infusions are commonly described as concentrated, sweetly floral and full-flavoured. They are a useful starting point if you enjoy a concentrated chrysanthemum character. Open Hang flowers unfurl more visibly in the cup and suit everyday floral tea. Both have a chrysanthemum aroma and can have some bitterness. Flower stage alone cannot establish which pack will taste sweeter, smoother or less bitter: variety, drying, dose and brewing strength also matter. This is general guidance, not a tasting assessment of these batches.
Brewing: Follow either pack’s directions: infuse in freshly boiled water for 15 minutes, or boil for 5 minutes, then strain. Start with a small amount of flowers and adjust the flowers or water to taste. Compare equal dry weights and water volumes, rather than counting flowers.
