Dried shiitake mushrooms — 香菇 (Xiāng Gū) — are one of the most widely used dried mushrooms in Chinese cooking. With a rich, savoury umami flavour and a satisfying meaty texture when rehydrated, they add depth and aroma to a broad range of dishes, from Cantonese soups and broths to braised and stir-fried recipes.
This Xianyitang pack contains dried shiitake mushroom with preservative (E220), produced under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Before use, rinse thoroughly and soak in warm water for 20–30 minutes until fully rehydrated; always cook shiitake mushrooms thoroughly before serving. The soaking liquid can be strained carefully and added to soups for extra flavour — discard any gritty sediment at the bottom. Do not leave soaked mushrooms at room temperature for extended periods.
Typical uses: Cantonese soups and broths, braised pork and chicken dishes, stir-fries, fried rice, steamed dishes, soup mixes.
Goes well with: Pork ribs, chicken, tofu, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, dried lily buds (金針), wood ear fungus (木耳), rice wine.
Allergen information: Contains sulphur dioxide (E220). Packed in a facility that also handles peanuts, tree nuts, sesame and soya. Please check the product label before use.
