Dried tangerine peel — 陳皮, also written chenpi or chen pi — is a form of aged dried mandarin peel widely used in Chinese cooking. The name 陳皮 literally means aged peel: drying and ageing concentrates the citrus oils, creating an aromatic depth in soups, braised dishes, teas and desserts that fresh peel cannot replicate. It is produced primarily in Guangdong province, with Xinhui chenpi (新會陳皮) particularly prized.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried tangerine peel, produced under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Rinse before use. Add to soups and broths during simmering, use in braised pork or slow-cooked recipes, or steep in hot water as part of a tea blend.
Typical uses: Chinese soups and broths, braised pork, slow-cooked recipes, Chinese-style teas and desserts.
Goes well with: Red dates (大棗), goji berry (枸杞子), coix seeds (薏米), pork ribs and chicken, codonopsis (黨參), astragalus (黃芪), dried longan (桂圓).
