Chinese red dates — 大棗 / 大枣 (Da Zao), also known as jujube dates — are one of the most widely used dried fruit ingredients in Chinese cooking. They have a naturally sweet flavour and a deep red, wrinkled skin, and are a staple in Chinese-style soups, sweet soups (tong sui), tea infusions, congee and a wide range of everyday recipes.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried red dates, manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system. Rinse thoroughly before use. Add whole or slit open to soups and broths, use to add natural sweetness to sweet soups and dessert drinks, or brew simply in hot water as a tea. Please check and remove stones before serving where required.
Typical uses: Chinese soups and broths, sweet soups and desserts, tea infusions, congee and rice dishes, slow-cooked and braised recipes.
Goes well with: Goji berry (枸杞子), dried longan (桂圓), lily bulb (百合), poria (茯苓), codonopsis (黨參), astragalus (黃芪), sour jujube seed (酸棗仁), chicken, pork ribs.
