Fennel seeds — 小茴香 (Xiǎo Huí Xiāng) — are a sweet, aromatic spice widely used in Chinese cooking. Their warm anise-like fragrance makes them a common ingredient in Chinese five-spice powder (五香粉), and they are used across a broad range of recipes, from braised and red-cooked meat dishes and master stock (鹵水) to dumpling and bun fillings.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried fennel seeds, manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system. Add whole seeds to master stock, braised dishes and slow-cooked recipes; lightly toast and grind for use in spice blends or dumpling fillings as needed.
Typical uses: Chinese five-spice powder (五香粉), master stock (鹵水 / 滷水), braised and red-cooked meat dishes, dumpling and bun fillings, spice blends, Chinese-style soups and broths.
Goes well with: Star anise (八角), cinnamon bark (肉桂皮), cloves (丁香), Sichuan pepper (花椒), soy sauce, pork belly, lamb, duck.
