Amomum fruit — 砂仁 (Shā Rén) — is a dried aromatic spice widely used in Chinese cooking. It has a warm, complex fragrance with resinous and mildly spicy notes, used to add depth and aroma to braised and slow-cooked dishes, master stock (鹵水), Chinese sausage (臘腸) and spice blends. It is used as a cooking spice; the whole pods or seeds are added to the dish during cooking and removed before serving, not eaten directly.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried amomum fruit, produced under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Use whole pods or lightly cracked seeds; add to braised dishes, master stock and slow-cooked recipes during cooking and remove before serving.
Typical uses: Chinese braised and slow-cooked meat dishes, master stock (鹵水 / 滷水), Chinese sausage and cured meats, spice blends, Chinese-style soups and broths.
