Black sesame seeds — 黑芝麻 (Hei Zhi Ma) — are a classic ingredient in Chinese cooking with a more intense, rich and slightly bitter nutty flavour compared to white sesame. They are the key ingredient in black sesame paste (黑芝麻糊), black sesame tang yuan and black sesame congee — beloved Chinese sweet desserts and comfort foods. As a garnish, they add a striking appearance and deep toasted aroma to stir-fries, noodles, rice dishes and desserts, and are widely used in Chinese and East Asian baking and pastry.
This Xianyitang pack contains 100% dried black sesame seeds, produced under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Toast lightly in a dry pan to intensify the nutty aroma before use.
